Wednesday Morning

Well Tuesday nothing really happened except one thing.... Usually the driver drops me off by my door, but its been a little over a week that I have asked him to drop me by the ally which goes to the house which Im staying in.  Monday after work and Tuesday after work when I got dropped off Iv notice that the little cheap store by that ally, there have been a few teenager boys standing there, and staring & smiling at me... and on Tuesday, they were saying something too which I ignored and walked away... while walking I felt like going back and having a talk with them to see what the hell is their problem, but I didnt... I got home told my cousin, and he said that if they do the same thing tomorrow just stand where you are and call me I will come and have a talk with them... I said ok.  So we shall see what happens today.....  Stupid UGLY little afghan teenagers!! LOL....

So this Morning... The drive called me to tell me that he will not be able to pick me up this morning, beeeecause they are going to Jalalabad... I said thats fine, so my cousin LELO and I took a taxi, and the taxi driver dropped me off by the ally which goes to my office.  On my way I saw a few goats/sheep's with a little boy, so I took their picture, and then I asked the little boy to stand there and I will take your picture, he said no to give him money first and then I could, so I looked in my purse but didnt see any change... I told him I dont have it sorry, but he kept on asking.... once I got to the door of the office I took another picture, and the boy came running saying to give him money, I said im sorry I dont have change or else I would, but he wouldnt go away, so I knocked at the door and the door man opened the door, I told him that this boy is annoying me and asking for money, so he yelled at the boy and ran him away... poor lil boy, i would of helped him if i could, but I know once you give them money they will always ask and even bring others to ask me for money.... ANY WAYS that was my morning... Interesting hu???  ahahahaaha

In the picture above you can see the lil boy...he is unaware of this picture.
Ok since Thursday is a gov day, because of when the Afghans got their independence / fought the Russians away a lot of the offices will be closed, so Im off Thursday and Friday!!!  Yeeeah!!! 2 day weekend! LMFAO!  Its funny because back home we would be off if we had a 3 day or 4 day weekend, but here Im happy to have a 2 day weekend!!!  Any ways so I will update you guys on Saturday in regards to what happened today with the ugly teenagers and let you know if anything interesting happened during the weekend..... ciao!

My son in his walker... I know he is too young and cant even sit, but he likes to be held up, so this is the best thing when we cant hold him...

Night out @ Intercontinental kabul afghanistan

Monday morning…. I would usually hate this day if I were in the states, but right now I don’t hate it… Mondays are like Wednesdays for me, but this doesn’t mean that in 2 days I will be off, instead its in 3 days, I will be off! Ahahahahaaaa! Well yesterday after work I went home, and just laied on my bed.  It was too hot to do anything else.  After an hour or so of laying there I got up got ready again and took my son to the doctor.  A few days ago, after giving him a bath, I had found a round soft ball/knot under my sons rib cage, so I freaked out a little at first, but then I was ok… So we decided to go check out a doctor who works in the French Hospital here.  He checked it out, and found out that its nothing big.  He said that he is low on Vitamin D, so we need to take him out in the sun more often, at least for 10 minutes a day.  He also told us to go across the street to where the nurse is, and ask him to give him a shot of vit. D.  I had never heard of a shot of vit. D, it was my first time, but doctor knows best! J So now I have decided to take him outside the house to the yard every day for at least ten minutes when I get home from work.

After we had seen the doctor, we decided to go to the Intercontinental Hotel, for dinner, since I had heard so much about them.  The hotel was not that far from the doctors, so when we got the taxi and asked him how much he stated its 100.00 Afghani.   We said that we got here for 170.00 Af from Darluman, which was more further, he said no he can only do it for 100.00 Af. So we went in the taxi.  The hotel sits up on a hill with a beautiful view at night time.  You see the stars closer, and all the lights around the city, I LOVED IT!

So we get inside, and it looks so nice.  Very elegant(for AFG LAND).  We go in, and I find out that they have live music, which was interesting.  So the waiter asks how many, we say 2, so he takes us to a table for who, and we sit.  He asks us for soup, and I say is it a buffet? He says yes, so I tell him we will go and get it ourselves then, he says ok.  So I look around and see all kinds of people.  Turkish, French, British, American, Indian, and of course Afghan.  It felt good being there.  My husband is sitting down with my son, so I tell him I will go get food for myself then you can go, he says ok. I go there and see lots of food, they were tasty, not bad, but of course not as tasty as a good old home cooking from my mom. . .  Later on after we had dinner and we were having dessert I noticed that there were more people coming, but they were Afghans.  There were a group of Kandahari men, which to me was a little scary.  There was no room for them so they decided to go out and eat in the patio, so it was a relieve for me!

After we eat, we get up to leave, and on our way out my husband notices the doctor that we took our son to, so I look back and see him, looking at us… We stood there to pay, and the guy says its 4900.00 af which is almost $60!!!!  I was like WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT???? IT WAS AN EXPENSIVE DINNER!!!  More expensive then the states!!!  Good thing I had a $50 bill on me!!  Or else who know what would of happened!!!  Ahahahahaaaa  My husband couldn’t believe it!!!  He was like good thing you had that $50 bill or else I would of dropped on the floor and died!! Ahahahaaaa  I said its ok, we didn’t know we thought it was $10 per person…  Finally we got home and I decided to just go to sleep because I was tired and hot….. I don’t think I would go their again, UNLESS some one else takes me, like my job, or my boss who had mentioned taking me and my husband there once, ORRRR if and WHEN Im loaded with $$$.

Long Sunday. . .

Sundays has always been a long, slow, boring day for me, I don’t know why, but here in AFG Land I work so its not that bad, and to be honest I don’t even know what day is what any more…  I feel un-organized because, I guess its because we only have one day off here, and you cant do a lot with only one day off.  Not only that but, cant go anywhere without a male escort here.  And when you do go out with a male escort/bodyguard, I feel rushed, although I am not being rushed.  Miss the days when I was able to hop on my car, and drive to where ever I needed to go alone.  Well these days will come and go, and soon hopefully I will be HOME SWEET HOME!

In the mornings, when the driver comes and picks me up, I just sit in the back of the car and look around, at the people on the streets.  Man, women; old, young, everyone is trying to get somewhere, the streets are filled with taxi’s and other cars honking at each other, and just thinking about themselves.  There is dust in the air, and every one covers their faces.  There is a mom holding her sons hand and waiting for the bus.  There is an old man with his turban, and white bearded trying to get on his bike.

At work, I get out of the car, and say hello to the guard, and other co-workers.  I open the door and get in, and say “Salaam” to whoever is in the office and then walk through to where I sit.  I open the window and hear all sorts of birds chirping and singing.  I remove my Abayus(long thin coat), and remove my purse.  I sit and open my laptop, and get ready to start my day with an old Dell laptop which takes forever to do anything on it.  Don’t ask about the internet, because that is slow as well, but I think its due to the slow laptop.  The Khala(aunt) or the cook brings me coffee, and asks how Im doing, and how is my son.  With a smile I say “Im good and so is he, thank you, how are you?
The day goes by, and before you know it, its time to go home.  On my ways back home, I see the same as I saw in the morning, but this time everyone is trying to get home.  Its dusty everywhere, but you cant close the window, otherwise it will get hot and smelly in the car, so you leave it open.  The driver drops me off by the street that goes to my house, he tells me he can drop me off by the door, but I say “no its ok, I NEED the walk.”  On my way I see kids running around, and playing by the ground water pump.  I look at the kids, and see how poor they are, and how old their clothes are, I get sad for them and wish I had a lot of money or things which I didn’t want so I can give it to them….  When I get home I feel relaxed, and happy to see my sweet precious baby boy. . . .

My one and only day off.....

Another work day…. Yes Here in Afghanistan every ones week starts on Saturday… Every one has 1 day off which is on Fridays, unless you work for the government, then you have Thursdays and Fridays off. Unfortunately I have only one day off which is FRIDAY… Poor poooooor me! Ahahahahaaaa! Its ok, it’s not that hard of a job.  .  .Also I had only one day off back when I used to work in the states too.  I worked at Denver Health Hospital as a Dental Assistent and worked at HBW and only had Sundays off from both jobs thats all... so no biggie ^_^
SO WHAT IS THERE TO DO ON YOUR DAY OFF IN AFG LAND?? Well Woke up at 8am, made milk for the sonny boy, made the bed and cleaned up a little.  Had breakfast, took a shower and washed up the little boy as well as my cousins daughter… then just stayed home.  At around 3 went to the graveyard to visit my uncles and their wife’s and my dads mom… (bebe chocha)  Then came home and had a little snack and went ironed my hubby’s work shirts and just chilled after that… yeah didn’t do much but… BUT the day before I did get off work a little earlier and went home, got ready, got my baby ready, and went over my cousins house with my other cousins, that was nice, just to chill.  My cousin whos house we went to is a little wild and likes to talk about sex… which for me is a little uncomfortable, but I just laugh it out… so yesssss that’s pretty muchhhh, lets see what we do on my next day off, I think it will be a 2 day weekend, but im not sure… I believe its an Independence day here, so I hope we go some where fun, where I can enjoy the view and all…. Aight homiesssss
